Did you know? ‘Parasites’ is a term that describes tiny creatures that can live on or inside your cat, causing harm to your pet and potentially your family. These include fleas, ticks, tapeworms and roundworms, all of which are common in cats.

These parasites are a continuous health threat to your cat but can be controlled with NexGard® COMBO

flea
YEAR-ROUND FLEAS YEAR-ROUND FLEAS
  • Fleas are a common problem in cats and can carry diseases and tapeworms
  • For every 5 fleas seen on your cat, there are 95 eggs, larvae or pupae hiding in your home or garden
  • If your home is already contaminated your vet may recommend a household spray and treating any other pets with an appropriate product

Fleas can also bite humans and transmit disease1

tick
THREAT FROM TICKS THREAT FROM TICKS
  • Ticks are often so tiny they are almost impossible to find in your cat’s fur
  • Ticks can be found where cats like to explore – including gardens and urban areas
  • Ticks feed on blood and can pass on diseases in the process2

Ticks can also transmit Lyme disease to people2

ROUNDWORM
ROUNDWORM RISK ROUNDWORM RISK
  • Over 1 in 4 cats that go outdoors are infected and pass roundworm eggs in their poo3
  • Roundworms can cause harm in both cats and people
  • Children often play in areas where these roundworm eggs may be found. Roundworms can cause blindness and increase the risk of asthma and epilepsy4–6

Children and adults with a compromised immune system are especially at risk7

TAPEWORM
TAPEWORM INFESTATION TAPEWORM INFESTATION
  • Cats can be infected by swallowing fleas while grooming or by eating prey animals such as rodents
  • Tapeworms live in cats’ intestines and are made up of segments like flattened grains of rice connected together, each filled with eggs

Segments can break off and wiggle out through your cat’s bottom. Yuk!

What about kittens?

Unfortunately parasites love them too!

Their natural curiosity means kittens are ideal hosts to parasites

kitty

We all know cats are curious, especially adventurous kittens. We love their enthusiasm for life but sadly these traits can put them at risk of picking up fleas, ticks and worms.
